(01/19/07) Community Comgress II Meeting Saturday January 20th, 2007

As you know, Community Congress II took the Unified New Orleans Plan process and kicked it up several notches, finally bringing a truly representative cross-section of our city together and connecting our displaced citizens to the planning process. Now, the final major planning meeting, Community Congress III, is coming up on January 20. At this meeting, citizens will: - See how their voices impacted the plan, and have one last opportunity to make sure the planners got it right. - Demonstrate to the federal government and other potential funders that we citizens are together and have a unified voice going forward as we seek

additional funding. - Discuss how to organize ourselves for ongoing citizen engagement to oversee implementation of the plans and hold government accountable.

This is a critically important community gathering, and we encourage you to circulate this information widely among your neighbors and urge them to attend. We've come this far together; let's keep the momentum going and the pressure on for this last community-wide planning meeting. Keith G.C. Twitchell, President Committee for a Better New Orleans/Metropolitan Area Committee (CBNO/MAC) (504) 943-7970 To register, visit www.unifiedneworleansplan.org

(01/18/07) Lakewood South (Those with transformers in vaults) no longer has three phase power.

Billy Lawler with Entergy has alerted us to a growing problem in Lakewood South. There are many new residents to the Lakewood South area and may not know that Lakewood South's electrical distribution system has been converted to single phase. As new customers are coming into the subdivision and buying homes their electricians are noticing that the old damaged meters that are still hanging on houses are three phase meters. As a result they are telling their new home owners to purchase a three phase A/C system which is wrong. Usually when a customer is ready to take power the old three phase meter is removed and replaced with single phase meters.
