Praise Church Property

The owners of Praise Church advised us in early 2005 that the property would be offered for sale.  A committee, chaired by Susan Nadell, was formed by LPOA to make recommendations to our membership regarding any potential zoning changes related to a potential sale.  The zoning change process, potential provisos we would expect, and the reasons why provisos are needed are described here.

The chronology of events is roughly as follows:

5/4/05 Architect presents proposed townhouse plans to advisory committee.  Next step is for committee, and Lakewood residents whose property abuts the Praise Church property, to tour a similar townhouse development at Canal Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd., provided the proposed builder has continued interest in the property (we were told that a purchase option expires on 5/15/05).
4/26/05 Advisory committee presents an update report at the spring membership meeting.  For details, refer to meeting minutes.
3/29/05 Advisory committee meets to review a proposal for a development similar to that at Canal Blvd. and Robert E. Lee Blvd.
3/ 24/05 Advisory committee holds its first organizational meeting
3/22/05 Developer Rudy Brown presents an initial plan at a special membership meeting.  Membership decides to form an advisory committee.
3/15/05 Developer Rudy Brown presents an initial plan to the board.  Board agrees that developer should hold a special presentation for interested members.  See meeting notes for further details.
