Sewerage situation update 3/13 from Denise Thornton:
I just spoke with the Sewerage & Water Board Pump Stations Manager, Ray Fabre, and our brand new pump will be installed and working properly on Wednesday afternoon. There does not appear to be any chokes in the system so on Wednesday afternoon the 4' of standing sludge should be gone.
There are 66 pumping stations throughout the city that were damaged. There are between 2 and 5 sub stations per pumping station. There is at least one generator running the sub-stations in all locations. 17 of the 66 are in working order and 11 more will be on line this week.
To make a long and complicated story short, you need not be worried about any issues with regard to swerage or water unless you live on Bellaire Drive. Those homeowners need to personally inspect their property to be sure the directional drilling company did not burst any water lines, gas lines or communication lines. There is no way to tell about the sewer lines until it begins to back up so if you notice anything at all, call WJ Barnes 835-1756.
